Date Night @ Casa Lizano Pumpkin Painting :

Last night Alex & I gave up our Pumpkin carving kit, and we decided to turn things up a notch with our painting skills. Instead of doing the usual and carve a pumpkin, we really wanted to do something completely different and not as messy. Carving pumpkins can become a very messy date-night, and I wasn’t looking forward to cleaning up all of those guts! Which is why I came up with the idea of turning it into a painting sesh; and honestly it was the BEST idea EVER!

At first Alex was complaining that he isn’t a good painter, but I mean, its not like it was a competition 😂 and he actually did a very good job! I just wanted this to be something fun & relaxing, so we opened up two Red Stripes 🍻, baked a pizza 🍕& got our painting on. In all honesty it was so relaxing, I don’t know if it was the fact that we had Sam Cooke playing in the background or if it was all the painting that was going on, I just felt like we took it easy & enjoyed ourselves fully. I’ve heard that painting can be therapeutic, because it allows the mind to focus on the images at hand and nothing else. The focus on one central topic relieves stress on the mind, and in turn relaxes the body. So this date-night was perfect after a long work-week (for me at least, because poor Alex had to clock-in today).

It’s always nice spending time together, but also finding unique things to-do from the comfort of our home, plus a super inexpensive date-night! You honestly don’t need much; except a few painting brushes, two pumpkins, a couple of acrylic paint kits & some Sam Cooke playing in the background! Oh & of course you’ll also need some cute ideas/designs 💡 for your pumpkins, Alex & I looked up on Pinterest “Pumpkin Painting Ideas” & there was more than a million ideas/designs to choose from!

Sunday Brunch @ Casa Lizano :

I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ Sunday Brunch? I sure do! Alex & I love going to Bonefish every once in a while for Sunday Brunch, but recently we’ve been brunching from the comfort of our home, because who doesn’t love a lazy Sunday? Especially when you get to enjoy it in the comfort of your favorite PJ’s & Slippers! Alex normally works 11-days straight & then has a 3-day weekend, so we always try to make the best of it whenever he’s got the whole weekend off. And what better way than to celebrate his Sunday off than with brunch?

I’m normally an early bird, no matter what day of the week it is. So while Alex takes a break from his early morning routine for work, I prepare some yummy breakfast & every little thing that we will be needing for Sunday Brunch; Mimosas DUH!💁🏼‍♀️🥂 So, I thought it’d be nice to share a few of my favorite recipes for your next Sunday Brunch, I hope ya’ll can enjoy!

Western Omelette or Scrambled Eggs :

Alex & I love either of the two, especially when they are packed with yummy ingredients; which is why we always stick to the Western one. Plus it’s super easy to make, and omelettes/scrambled eggs in general are a great choice for a low carb breakfast, because they pack you full of protein and keep you full for quite a while easily.

Ingredients :

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 large eggs (in our case 4-5 large eggs, depending how hungry we are)
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper/red bell pepper finely diced
  • 1/4 cooked ham chopped
  • 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt/pepper to liking

How it’s made :

  1. In a medium bowl beat the eggs well & set aside.
  2. I’m an 8-inch skillet 🍳, melt 1 tbsp of butter, then add in the onion & sauté until tender.
  3. Add in bell peppers and fry until the onions are softened to your liking and the bell peppers are tender crisp.
  4. Add the ham and cook for one more minute while stirring.
  5. Pour the eggs mixture over top of fried ham/vegetable mixture.
  6. Turn down the stove heat to low and cover with a lid for about 4-5 minutes.
  7. Once the eggs are solid and cooked almost through, flip the entire circle and cook for one more minute. But if you’d prefer to eat some yummy scrambled eggs, just scramble them up while adding some cheese & skip the following two steps down below!
  8. Place the cheese on one side of the omelette and fold over the omelette into a half circle shape.
  9. Let the cheese melt inside and then serve.

Homemade Pancakes :

I’m obsessed with pancakes, so whenever I get the chance to munch on them…I definitely do just that!😜 Check out these easy to make homemade pancakes 🥞 from scratch! (Plus, besides adding some sweet syrup; you can also top them off with some freshly cut strawberries & whipped cream!)

Ingredients :

  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 1/2 cup of milk

How it’s made :

  1. Mix in all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. (Flour, baking powder, sugar, salt)
  2. Whisk egg in a small bowl and add to the above flour mixture along with the milk.
  3. Stir together, until well blended and pour onto hot greased griddle.
  4. Wait until pancakes are bubbling and cooked around the edges and flip.
  5. Garnish with freshly cut strawberries 🍓 & some yummy whipped cream.

Sides :

I normally always like to have a couple of sides to pair with the Omelette/Scrambled Eggs 🍳& Pancakes 🥞 ; so I always tend to make some wheat or classic toast with butter or jelly. And of course we can’t forget the BACON 🥓; bacon is completely necessary for a Sunday Brunch @ Casa Lizano!

Mimosas :

Oh, and we can’t forget the Mimosas either🥂, the most important part of it all 😆! Here’s what I consider the perfect mix for a Mimosa :

Ingredients :

  • 1/4 cup pulp-free orange juice
  • 1/4 cup + a splash 😆 sparkling white wine (my personal recommendation would be Prosecco)

How it’s made :

  1. Pour 1/4 cup of orange juice into a champagne flute (this should fill nearly half of the glass).
  2. Pour 1/4 cup of Prosecco into the flute; and of course top it off with some extra splash..you can just eyeball it lol! (I’ve found that, that extra splash is exactly what the drink needs to go from good to GREAT! 🥂
  3. If you’re like me, you can just garnish it with some of the extra freshly cut strawberries 🍓!

Honeymoon :

We’re still on that honeymoon state of mind, but I wish we could be reliving that entire week all over again! When it came to honeymoon 🍯 planning, Alex & I literally had to wait till last minute to actually reserve anything. We were getting married on March 30th, and I kid you not when I am telling you that 2 weeks before the wedding, was when we were finally able to reserve our honeymoon. Ever since Alex started Pharmacy School, we would always have to plan things around his schedule, especially our honeymoon, because he was waiting to see where & when he would start his residency year.

So on March 15th, 2019 at exactly 8:00AM, he finally got that phone call that we were both yearning for so long. He had gotten accepted at the #1 place that he really wanted to do his 1st year of residency & we were finally on the clear to plan our honeymoon. His graduation date was set for May 17th & he still had to study for his board exam before he started the residency program, which only left us with 1 possible week to celebrate our honeymoon. Which was perfect, because all we really wanted to do was take some time off, just for the two of us & disconnect from our normal routine.

Fast forward to one day later, and we were able to get an amazing deal on a 1-week cruise on the Symphony of the Seas by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line & we were finally able to book our honeymoon! The best part of it all, was that we were leaving the day after Alex’s graduation, so it honestly couldn’t have been planned any better! We both needed this time off, but it was extra special for Alex, because he was officially graduating from Pharmacy School, so it was double the celebration!

May 17th, 2019 : Graduation Day 🎓

I personally love cruising, because you don’t really have to worry about anything, everything is literally taken care of for your, and Royal Caribbean really knows how to treat their guests on-board. From the moment we got to the port they were fully aware that we were on our honeymoon & really gave us those extra perks. Not a day passed by, that we didn’t feel like we were both on Cloud 9! Everything about this trip was absolutely perfect; from the service, to our balcony ocean-view cabin, to the food, to the shows & honestly the list can go on. Royal Caribbean is an exceptional cruise line! They’ve got jaw-dropping performances on stage, ice, water and air with entertainment that transcends the stage, literally. Plus they’ve got so many onboard experiences, that it would be imposible for you to get bored on their ships!

Boardwalk — Symphony of the Seas

Our itinerary included the following ports : (W/ 3 at Sea Days)

  • St. Kitss
  • St. Thomas
  • Coco Cay Perfect Day

Even though, Alex & I have been to all of these 3 islands, we were both just looking forward to relaxing & trying out different excursions that we probably hadn’t done before. Plus, Coco Cay (which is a private island that is owned by Royal Caribbean) had recently gotten a total facelift 😂, so we were looking forward to checking that out as well.

St. Kitts :

Alex & I really wanted to do the Mount Liamuiga Volcano Hike at St. Kitts, but unfortunately due to the weather they had to cancel this excursion. So we decided to go ATV riding throughout the St. Kitts rainforest (which we were able to see Mount Liamuiga from afar + snap some beautiful pictures) & then ended up at the beach, sipping on tropical drinks while we sun-bathed.

St. Thomas :

At St. Thomas, we sailed away on a Catamaran that took us to Christmas Cove where we snorkeled with sea turtles & stingrays. And later sipped on unlimited rum-punch🍹, while we partied our way back to our cruise ship!

Coco Cay, Perfect Day :

Honestly this day was full of tropical drinks & delicious food by the beach, while we sun-bathed at one of their adults-only beaches. Talk about a perfect 👌🏻 day at Coco Cay!

Days at sea, were just as good as the days that we were roaming the islands 🌴. We took those 3-days at sea to enjoy all the perks the ship has to offer + relax by the adults-only pool with a Piña Colada!🍍🍹Besides the fact that this was our honeymoon, this trip was one of the best, and it’s funny because I feel like I always say the same thing about every other trip, but seriously we couldn’t have selected a better way to spend our honeymoon!💛✨🥂🍯

So recently I got the opportunity to discover a hidden gem right here in our own backyard called Salt Miami Wellness. Personally I’ve ventured into the usual dark caves here and there, but never had the chance to experience a salt cave before. After I did, I can wholeheartedly say that I might’ve found my new favorite place to just hang out, all the while sipping on some warm tea & improving my breathing.

With a mission to provide a healthy (drug free) and relaxing way to improve your breathing, this place is ideal for those  who suffer from asthma, allergies, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, stress….you name it. Their Salt Caves are equipped with Himalayan salt that can be reserved for a private session as well as a group session with others who are seeking the same relaxing experience. This holistic therapy using the micro particles of salt promotes better breathing, healthier skin, improved fitness and overall wellness. It’s proven that salt therapy can significantly help to increase the resistance to respiratory tract diseases, strengthen your immune system, among many other benefits + it’s completely safe for your entire family! Speaking of, if you’ve got kids, there’s a playground where they can have fun and also improve their breathing, because it’s never too early to get a start on being healthy.

Alex and I came here 2 weeks after our wedding, which was a perfect occasion to spend some time for ourselves to relax and unwind for a little. Once there we got to try out their private Himalayan Salt Cave for a 1 hour session. The ambiance was absolutely relaxing, they’ve got these love chairs that open up for the perfect position to take a nap in + they give you these cozy blankets with fluffy pillows, with all that it’s impossible not to want to doze off. When I tell you that their Salt Caves are fully equipped with Himalayan salt, I mean that their walls & floors are literally all made out of salt. YES EVEN THE WALLS ARE MADE OUT OF SALT! It’s like a salty version of Elsa (not her mood, even though she was a little salty at first) without the possibility of hyperthermia.

Finally, after our 1 hour session in the Salt Cave we stepped into their infrared sauna room for a 45 minute session. The infrared heat allows the skin to breathe, penetrates deeper to detoxify the body + you can burn up to 600 calories! It was pretty hot in that sauna, but what’s a little sweat compared to burning that fat away. Plus unlike most saunas out there, they have a mini TV inside, in which you could catch up on your show while you relax (talk about some Netflix & Chill). You didn’t need to tell us twice though; we immediately decided to catch up on the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina while we sipped on some icy cold lemonade water to forget about the fact that we were literally sweating our whole life within those 45 minutes. (Although the scenes of fire and brimstone didn’t help too much)

Needless to say, we enjoyed this one of a kind experience and I’m 100000% sure that we will definitely be back for a few more sessions because we totally felt the difference after we left. I’m the type of person that when I feel a tad bit stressed out my shoulders start to hurt and it’s mainly because my muscles tend to get all sore & tense  up. This whole experience made me feel more relaxed and I noticed muscle relief pretty quickly + I felt like I was able to breathe with more ease, something that I probably wouldn’t have noticed unless I came here. If you’re looking for a natural way of relieving some stress and helping yourself breathe better, I would definitely recommend for you to check out Salt Miami Wellness. Even if you’re not from Miami you could try checking Google for any local salt wellness locations around your area. It never hurts to try out something new, especially if it’s good for you!
