Hey 🙋🏼♀️!! Just wanted to drop in here and share with you all my favorite daily products that I normally use for my “quick + easy daily look”, click the video down below and check out, how I personally prefer to get ready for work – enjoy!
Some would say that your only worry should be if the tide is going to reach your chair, and although that does cross my mind whenever I’m relaxing by the shoreline, I also have found myself worrying about my skin and hair while I’m at the beach. It’s normal to worry about them because our skin + hair tend to dry up with sun and saltwater exposure, and especially when you’ve got treated hair. But throughout the years, I have found great products that I can’t live without them, for whenever we head over to a tropical destination. I have compiled a list for you guys of a few products that I have been using for a while now and a few other ones that I have recently added to my beach bag!
Sunscreen is extremely important no matter the occasion, I normally wear sunscreen every single day and I try to make sure that my daily moisturizer for both my body & face contain some amount of SPF. But of course, whenever you’re headed to the beach you need much more than just a little amount of SPF, so these are the 2 sunscreens I like to use while I am laying out in the sun. I actually don’t wear any tanning lotion, I prefer not to and I don’t really feel like I need it, because I tend to get a nice natural tan with these two sunscreens.
Ladies! Please moisturize after laying out in the sun!!! It’s such an important step that most women tend to forget, but trust me you will notice the difference right after the 1st application. Whenever you lay out in the sun, your skin tends to get dry and moisturizing it with some Aloe will definitely help bond your skin together. What I would normally do, was that once we showered back at the room I would moisturize with Aloe all throughout my body.
Like I said before, moisturizing is needed especially after a day out in the sun. So I personally like to ‘extra moisturize’, after the Aloe dries up, I go back and usually moisturize with a regular lotion. But I recently purchased this specific lotion, because of it’s great reviews. This natural glow moisturizer is truly a game changer ladies, it gradually created a flawless, natural-looking color while also hydrating my skin!
I’m not lying when I say that I use this lip balm on the daily, but I feel like lip balm is also very important when you’re headed to the beach! Just like your skin and hair, your lips tend to get dry and chappie, which is NOT cute! So make sure you get your favorite lip balm and stick it in your beach bag NOW!
So when it comes to Olaplex, there’s only good things to say! I got these 4 products after I decided to lighten my hair and now I can’t live without them! They are a bit pricey, but worth every penny, because you will notice the difference in your hair once you use them. I basically washed my hair every single day that we were at the beach, and after every wash I would apply Olaplex No 6, which is a styling hair cream. The styling hair cream helped with keeping the frizz away and would make my hair extra soft. Now with Olaplex No 3, I only used it once throughout our whole trip. This specific product is a hair mask, so it’s not meant to be used every single day, using it just once did the trick!
A good detangling hair brush is a total must, especially after you get out of the water and you just want to brush out your hair – I would totally recommend this one because I’ve noticed that it doesn’t tug & pull my hair!
I always like to have my hair feel smooth, so whenever I was out of the water and ready to sunbathe, I would splat some of this coconut milk conditioner onto my hair and brush it through. It would obviously condition my hair and give it these cute ‘beachy wavey’ style!
And of course, you can’t forget your serum! I would apply this every single day before and after applying the coconut milk conditioner. I’ve even found it very useful for whenever I would want to style my hair up on a bun or ponytail, rather than using gel or moose!
Hopefully you will find these products useful for your next beachy getaway, and as always Happy Friday!✨💛🌴
Whether you are in need of a fast, healthy dinner, a meal to wow the crowd, or just simply a protein that you can enjoy tonight and eat as leftovers the next day, this is the baked Salmon recipe for you! I try to mix-up our meals of the week as much as possible, so we’re always eating something different throughout the week, and I also love making fish at least once a week. This Monday I shared on my Insta stories that I was going to make Salmon for dinner & you guys were asking me to share my Salmon recipe ASAP, so here it is!
2 pound side of Salmon
3 Limes – cut in half, plus extra for serving as desired
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon of garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon of lemon pepper (or to personal taste)
Half an Onion sliced
How it’s Made :
Remove the Salmon from the refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes while you preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a large baking dish or rimmed baking sheet with a large piece of aluminum foil.
Lightly coat the foil with olive oil, then arrange the Salmon right in the center.
Squeeze the 3 limes onto the Salmon, making sure that the juices are staying within the baking tray.
Sprinkle garlic salt and lemon pepper, rub to coat and lay sliced onions on top of the Salmon.
Fold the sides of the aluminum foil up and over the top of the Salmon until it is completely enclosed. If your piece of foil is not large enough, place a second piece on top and fold the edges under so that it forms a sealed packet. Leave a little room inside the foil for air to circulate.
Bake the Salmon for about 20-30 minutes, until the Salmon is almost completely cooked through at the thickest part. The cooking time will vary based on the thickness of your Salmon. If your side is thinner (around 1-inch thick) check several minutes early to ensure that your Salmon does not overcook.
Once you Salmon is cooked, remove the Salmon from the oven and carefully open the foil so that the top of the fish is completely uncovered. Change the oven setting to broil and return the Salmon to the oven for about 5-10 minutes, until the top of the Salmon and onions are slightly golden, make sure to keep an eye on the Salmon, just to make sure it doesn’t overcook during this process.
To serve, cut the Salmon into portions & squeeze an extra lime for desired taste!
Happy Saturday Ya’ll!! I just wanted to pop in here and say HI 🙋🏼♀️ and also talk to you guys about a little something Alex & I created when this whole pandemic started. I thought it would be a great idea to do so, because tomorrow we will be spending the whole day doing a few ‘Home Improvements’ around Casa Lizano, so I thought it would definitely set-up the mood for tomorrow!
As many of you guys know, when this whole pandemic started I was basically stuck working from home – all while Alex was non-stop at the hospital. Even though I technically never really stopped working, I did find myself creating a little work-schedule, because I also wanted to take this time to relax & reflect on different projects I had in mind. I didn’t want it to feel like I was working more than before, so I would take little breaks here and there throughout my day. One day, Alex was actually home and we decided to swing by a local nursery so we could get some cute plants for our home. I specifically wanted to get plants that would add some pop of color inside our house, because I felt like our walls were to plain. So the idea was to create a wall garden inside the house, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to set them up. So we went ahead and got a few succulents that day and just brought them home to figure out exactly what we wanted to do.
In my opinion the best place for ‘home decor’ ideas is on Pinterest, but Pinterest can get complicated very quickly because you can find so many cute ideas all at once and that could be a little intimidating sometimes, because you loose a sense of creativity along the way. I noticed that Alex & I had about the same ideas for what we wanted to do, but Alex was leaning more towards having the wall garden outside in the yard rather than somewhere inside the house. He felt like it would be better for watering purposes and also because he was afraid they wren’t going to get enough sunlight indoors. So in a way we were kinda lost as to what to-do for quite some time. I’m not gonna lie, these succulents stayed outside for over a month until we finally decided what we were going to do with them, and in the meantime I continued purchasing more & more succulents every chance that I passed by the nursery. We had so many plants & succulents that we had to-do two wall gardens instead of one, which worked out perfectly because we both got what we wanted at the end, an indoor and outdoor wall garden 🌵!
Here’s a list of all of the succulents, plants & tools needed to create our indoor and outdoor wall garden :
Since we had so many succulents and orchids, we decided to replant a few in the same pots. The pots that we ended up purchasing were a little bigger than expected, but I loved the fact that they were plastic & looked as if they were porcelain because of its design/texture. So giving up the pots for different ones wasn’t gonna be an option for me, and we had so many small succulents that we could get away with replanting two-in-one! So after we replanted all of the succulents & orchids, it was time to figure out how we were going to place them, as you guys can see we did 3 rows going horizontal and vertically with enough spaces for each individual plant. I love how clean and modern the gardens look both indoors and outdoors. The great part of it all, is that you can actually rearrange the plants every so often, cause all you have to do is move the pots around. So whenever we notice that a few plants might need a little more sunlight, we just move it outside and bring a few of the outdoor plants back inside. So in a way, the garden itself is very versatile and you’re not stuck with the same view for forever!
I hope you guys enjoy creating these wall gardens, just as much as we did and don’t forget to let us know in the comments down below what type of plants, succulents and orchids you used to make your own wall garden! 💛✨🌵🌸
Here is my first ever outfit diary! I decided I would take some photos/videos in each of my outfits throughout our mini-getaway at Sanibel Island, with the help of my Hubbager Mr. Lizano! Check out all of my outfits + links on how you can achieve the same exact looks!💛
I wanted to be able to leave in something cute but comfy, because we were going to be stuck in a car for about 2 hours before we reached our destination. So I decided to wear this beautiful Mamey color linen dress from Target. I was able to link it above, but only in the color white, as that is the only color they currently have available.
Let’s talk about formfitting, this swimsuit wrapped around my body as if it were made specifically for me! The material was thick enough to give me full coverage, and offered the most perfect cheeky bottom!
It’s not a tropical vibe, unless you’ve got a tropical set to go with it – blessed to have collaborated with Pretty Little Thing for this trip, because I got to wear the cutest outfits ever!
Tie-Dye is definitely the way to my C O R A Z O N, this bodycon dress fit so well + matched the vibrant sunset perfectly after a long beachy day!
Did someone say Fedora? This had to be one of my favorite beachy looks, I actually bought this swimsuit on our final run to Target right before our trip, and as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. The color gave me major ‘tropical vibes’ and I thought it would go perfectly with the Heart-shaped Sunglasses that I also got at Pretty Little Thing!🦩
Funny enough I got a bunch of DM’s regarding this Bikini I wore on our last beachy day, which is why I decided to link it above. I’ve had this bikini for over a year now, and it’s one of my favorite bikinis because of it’s print!🐅
This peachy dress I wore on our last night at Sanibel caused sensation all throughout the island, especially to Alex’s eyes 😍 lol – he really wanted me to get this specific dress & insisted that I had to have it!
On our departure date, I decided to wear something a little more sporty. I didn’t post it up on the Insta’s Timeline, but I did post it up on my stories & you guys wanted all the deets! As many of you guys know, I had been on the look for some new denims, and I found the perfect fit at Target + I also picked up this cute Tee to represent my little Scoobs!🐶
I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know f you would like to see more outfit diaries from every place I go to! Happy Hump Day!✨
You know that saying that traveling is the only thing you can spend money on that will make you richer – well, Alex & I definitely believe that! We’ve made it a habit to at least once a year plan a little getaway so we can relax, meet new places and create new memories. Since the beginning of this year we had a trip planned out for the weekend of our wedding anniversary, but had to cancel last minute for obvious reasons! Shortly after we canceled my family-business was mandated by the county to close until further notice & I was basically stuck at home, handling all of Marilin’s online orders, while Alex was working non-stop + wrapping up his last couple of weeks of PGY-1 residency. Honestly, I felt extra bad for Alex because I knew exactly how badly he really just wanted to take a few days off to relax, but at that current moment it wasn’t gonna be option.
Fast forward to June 27th (just to be exact), we booked a mini-getaway to celebrate the fact that Alex was officially done with his residency – the funny part was that I basically had less than 24 hours to pack up everything, because we were literally leaving the next day. Some would question why did we wait so last minute to book anything and the answer to that is quite simple, with everything that has been going on this past year, we didn’t want to book anything with anticipation and then have to cancel once again! I won’t lie, at first I was a bit skeptical as to where we should go, I knew it had to be somewhere local just incase an emergency or potential lock-down due to this pandemic. The great part of living in Florida, is that FL has beautiful beaches all throughout the state, but you have to be willing to drive just a little. We were looking for a place neither of us have ever been to and we had a few options, but one specific spot stood out the most for us and that was Sanibel Island. We wanted to go somewhere that was tropical and peaceful, and I must say that the other reason why we were so attracted to this location, was because of the amazing deal we got at the resort! DEALS are always the way to Alex’s heart 💛 😂!
We found this Resort right on the Southwest Gulf Coast of Sanibel Island, called Sundial Beach Resort & Spa. We were able to select from their spacious and fully-equipped condominium accommodations our Island Suite! They’ve got different condos to fit everyones needs, I personally liked the fact that it was spacious + very private/cozy at the same time. It honestly felt like we were in our second home, I even remember us leaving dinner one night and saying “now when we get home let’s sit on the balcony”! We reserved directly from their site with the Florida & Georgia Resident Discount; which included Breakfast for 2 every morning of our stay, beach towels, chairs & umbrellas, paddle boarding, kayaks, bikes to ride throughout the island and all the basics that a resort usually includes.
The resort is very centric to local restaurants & shops, which was something I absolutely loved, because you don’t have to fully rely on the resort if you’d like to grab something to eat. The resort also offers multiple restaurants/bars, but we really wanted to eat local food and I’m glad we did because we got to try out different restaurants. I feel like the best part of the resort was the fact that it included so many activities like bikes, kayaks and paddle boarding. We would normally do something active every day and then end up relaxing at the beach until 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon. Plus, by that time the low-tide was active and we would just walk right by the shoreline collecting seashells. The amount of beautiful seashells that you will find at Sanibel is insane, I have never seen so many seashells in my life! I mean, they don’t just call Sanibel a tropical island destination with miles of shell-strewn beaches for nothing!
Sanibel Island is definitely a must if you haven’t been to already, trust me! Needless to say, this trip was definitely all about relaxing, and that’s something we both needed! We laughed, we created new memories and we probably even found the one place we could always turn to for a mini-getaway!💛🌴✨ – Till we meet again Sani!
Most people would think that journaling entails a whole “Dear Diary” type of vibe, but in reality journaling does more than just help you record your memories or find self-expression, it’s good for your health too! Plus, journaling is no longer old-fashioned, or just for folks of a certain older-and-wiser age. It’s something that you need to do NOW! I always thought that I had started my journaling-journey about 3 to 4 years ago. But I recently discovered (while doing some spring/quarantine cleaning) that I’ve been journaling ever since I was a kid. Most of my journals from when I was younger, did begin with that famous “Dear Diary” line, but I guess once I started maturing I really found my true purpose when it came to my journals. I’ve found that journaling has many purposes and in my opinion it’s a great way of keeping all of thoughts, memories, and even life goals organized in one place + it also gives me another reason to swing by every 2-3 months to HomeGoods, so I can buy myself a new journal! I usually go through an entire journal within 2-3 months, because I write so much in them!
I’ve created a routine of writing down every morning what I’m thankful for and my daily/weekly goals. By doing so, I’ve found that this simple morning routine keeps me motivated and centered throughout the week. Which is why I am firm believer that journaling has some great virtues! Here are 4 good-for-you virtues of journaling :
Reduces Stress :
An overabundance of stress can be damaging to your physical, mental and emotional health. I strongly believe that journaling is an incredible stress management tool, because you can always jot down your feelings, rather than bottling them all up. We sometimes feel like the best way of managing certain situations, is by keeping them to ourselves. Which is okay, if you know how to manage yourself under a lot of stress, but I’m not that type of person. I personally love talking and expressing myself with those closest to me, and I even express myself in my journals, because I feel like I’m letting go of anything that might be stressing me out at the moment.
Keeps Your Memory Sharp :
Journaling helps you keep your brain on tip-top shape. Not only does it boost memory and comprehension, it also increases working memory capacity, which may reflect improved cognitive processing. Alex always asks me, “how is it that I remember so many things from the past”, and the answer too that is simple, I WRITE IT ALL DOWN! 😂
Holds You Accountable :
Many people like to record facts and figures in their journal, especially ones which relate to an important life change. Whatever the nature of your change, your journal can help you to achieve it. Seeing your progress in black and white helps you carry on when your motivation is at rock-bottom! Like I said before, I personally love writing down all of my daily/weekly goals in my journals, and being able to see how I accomplish each and everyone of them keeps me even more motivated!
Encouraged Positive Thinking :
When you write in your journal, don’t dwell on the things that went wrong. Focus on the positive aspects of your day or week – even when you have to dig hard to find something (trust me, you’ll find something). We tend to focus a lot on the bad things that happen to us, and forget about all the good that has happened, and it’s important to keep in mind that dwelling on the bad won’t help you progress in life. Shifting your focus will help you see a faster change in your attitude and life. One way that I like to exercise this specifically, is by listing the things which were not just good but BETTER! It helps me shift my focus and realize how blessed I truly am.
Ready To Start Journaling?
YOU GET IT : Journaling is good for you – physically, mentally and emotionally. But what if, like myself, you ever find yourself stuck, staring frustrated at a blank page, because you don’t know what to write about. Well firstly, ditch the guilt of not being consistent or instantly motivated. It needs to come out naturally and you can simply start where you are. If you need to initially just write a single line, or detail the specifics of what you had for breakfast, do it. Don’t preoccupy yourself with managing perfect punctuation, grammar, spelling or your best handwriting…..because chances are you’re the only one reading your journal! Just write and don’t censor yourself, this is for YOU! Remember : You don’t have to be Shakespeare.
So go ahead, grab one of those marble journals at HomeGoods and set aside a dedicated space and time for journaling, you can thank me later!💛
As Ya’ll know, it’s only fair that I do a “Mother’s Day 2020 Gift Guide”, because last year I shared a great guide that you all loved! But I did notice that you were all asking to see more jewelry pieces that were cute and inexpensive, some of you guys even brought to my attention that you guys wanted to see what I recommended for your Momma’s, jewelry wise. So I thought to myself, why not switch things up this year and do an entire guide of beautiful jewelry pieces for your Momma’s that you guys can shop right from Marilin’s Jewelry 💎:
Hopefully this guide will help you guys find a little something for your Momma’s this Mother’s Day, we’ve got a little something for each type of Mom! Plus, don’t forget that Marilin’s Jewelry is offering FREE SHIPPING, when you use code : FREESHIP19 ! #HappyShopping 💎🛍💝
Since this whole quarantine thing started, I’ve found myself getting a little more creative when it comes to planning our Date Nights! I absolutely love planning date nights that involve PJ’s & some good wine, I mean, you don’t have to necessarily go-out all the time + it’s super pocket friendly! But one thing I did realize was that, we had never done a game-night date night! Of course, we hadn’t done it yet, because we actually didn’t have any board games at home. When we first moved in, we didn’t think of purchasing board games and I honestly feel like board-games is a total must-have! Thankfully Target came to the rescue and they had an amazing BOGO deal, in which you buy 2-games and get 1-FREE. We couldn’t miss out in the opportunity so we went ahead and purchased a few games that we knew we definitely needed.
We absolutely LOVE game nights, it’s one of our top favorite ways to pass some time and the great part of game-night date night, is that you probably don’t have to waste a single cent. Unless you’re like us and didn’t have a single game at home. But if you were smart enough to buy them ahead of time, all you gotta do is open a nice bottle of wine, set out a cheese board and challenge each other to a bet. Plus, if you ever want to host a double date once this whole quarantine is over, a game night is a fantastic at home date night idea for a group date or a double date! I personally love being competitive and seeing Alex’s competitive side!
Dominos (If you’re hispanic, you will understand why this game is 100000% necessary to have at home 😂!)
Don’t Forget About :
Once you’ve got everything set out, you can’t forget about some yummy snacks and a great playlist to have playing in the background. This will just set the whole mood up for the evening. I’ve usually prepared cheese boards whenever Alex & I have a little date night at home, but I was thinking, that maybe this weekend I can try making something a little different, like some yummy “Truffled Popcorn”. We shall see 💁🏼♀️, but for now I hope you guys enjoy this little idea with your lovers this weekend!
If you guys follow me on the Gram, then Ya’ll know that I absolutely love making my famous oven-baked potato thins as a dinner side at least once a week! It’s a great healthy and easy-to-make dinner-side option, because all you need, are either golden or red potatoes and some yummy seasoning! I’m 100% sure that every ingredients that I am about to list down below, Ya’ll have it in your kitchen pantry 😋!
3 pounds of Golden or Red Potatoes, & sometimes you can mix both which is what I normally do (sliced)
2 Tbs Olivie Oil
5 cloves of Garlic (minced)
1 Tsp of Dried Thyme
1/2 Tsp of Dried Oregano
1/2 Tsp of Dried Basil
1 Tsp of Chili Powder
1 Tsp of Paprika
2 Tbs Unsalted Butter
Salt & Pepper to taste
Shredded Cheese to taste
How it’s Made :
Start by preheating oven to 400 degrees F and lightly oil a baking sheet or coat it with a nonstick olive oil buttery spray.
On a separate bowl mix all the seasonings listed above together, so you can spread the seasoning in an evenly manner onto the potatoes.
Place potatoes in a single layer onto the prepared baking sheet and add olive oil + the seasoning mix. Try to cover each potato thin as much as possible with the seasoning mix.
Once you’ve got the potatoes covered in seasoning add on top as much shredded cheese as you’d like. I personally cover it entirely with shredded cheese, because once they’re completely baked, the cheese tends to get crispy and it’s so delish!
Place potatoes into oven and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp. Once they’re removed from the oven stir in butter until melted.
Serve immediately, and if you’d like, you can also garnish it with some parsley if desired!
