Salmon has to be one of my favorite meals, but if you’re like me who try’s to eat salmon at least once a week, you definitely need to find different ways you can make it, so you won’t get bored of it too quickly! I tried making it a little sweeter a couple of weeks ago, and it was a big hit! Alex absolutely loved it, and begged for more after he finished eating his first plate (it’s always good when he asks for more) 😜! So I thought I’d share with Ya’ll my “Honey Glazed Salmon” recipe, so you guys can try it at home & let me know how you guys like it!
1/3 of Raw Honey
1/4 of Soy Sauce
2 tbsp of freshly squeezed Lemon Juice
3 tbsp of extra-virgin olive oil
4-6 oz of Salmon fillets (make sure to pat them dry)
Salt (added to your own personal taste)
Freshly ground black pepper (added to your own personal taste)
3 cloves of garlic minced
1 lemon sliced into rounds
How it’s Made :
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the raw honey, soy sauce and lemon juice.
Season the salmon with the salt and pepper (to your own personal taste), and drizzle over the whisked sauce that you created with the raw honey, soy sauce and lemon juice onto the salmon. I personally added more honey once I placed the salmon on the baking sheet, because I wanted it to come out extra sweet!
Cover the salmon with aluminum foil, and place the baking sheet into oven and bake until completely cooked through, for about 20-25 minuets.
Once the salmon is completely cooked, remove the extra aluminum foil from the top, and place back into the oven for about 5 minutes on broil to give it that golden crispy look.
Serve immediately with any of your favorite sides!
As many of you guys know I started this blogging journey 2 years ago, I found myself in a place that I was finally ready to do something that I had always wanted to do. I wanted to give myself an opportunity to grow and get out of my comfort zone, but most importantly share with you guys a little bit of my everyday! When I first started, I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to talk about or what to share, but little by little it all started to fall into place. I found myself talking about pretty much anything, and it all came out so naturally, mainly because you guys were interested.
I found that you guys were mostly interested in my #OOTD / #OOTN . But I was caught up in a place where I didn’t know how to share all of my outfit details in an easy shop-able way. I noticed that a few of my favorite fashion bloggers used the LIKEtoKNOW.it App and I instantly loved the idea of having a direct link for all of my outfit details. So of course, I had to apply for the program & here we are today! I wanted to create a little blog post explaining to you guys what LIKEtoKNOW.it is and how it works, so if you guys ever come across any of my links, you can understand how easy this shop-able link is!
I myself was a little confused as how to operate it! After a few posts here and there, I was finally comfortable enough to share this new platform with Ya’ll. This app is here to make shopping for items a lot easier for my followers and ultimately, makes it easier for me to earn commission for each of my LIKEtoKNOW.it posts if someone decides to make a direct purchase from any of my links. ( I like to keep things transparent with you guys, and I want you to fully understand exactly how this platform works; and how it’s not only beneficial to you to “shop my looks”, but also beneficial to me!) At the end of the day I was always tagging every individual brand in all of my pics, and I would also go to the extent of sharing direct links to these brands websites for you to shop my look. Which is why this didn’t feel any different for me, because it’s not like I was changing my post routines. I’m basically doing the same exact thing, just making it much more simpler for you guys to shop!
The best part about this platform is that, EVERYONE can sign up for a LIKEtoKNOW.it account, regardless if you’re a blogger or not! It’s completely free and simple to do. Simply enter the email address you’d like to receive your product links from and that’s it! If you follow me on Instagram and see a product you’d like to buy, check to see if a “LIKEtoKNOW.it URL” is mentioned within the caption, and if so, just double-tap the image to “like” it and you should receive an email almost immediately with clickable images directing you to the exact product or up to 6 similar styles! Talk about making your shopping experience 100X EASIER! If you haven’t done so already, download the LIKEtoKNOW.it App and search @adayinyesislife & simply follow me for more details! #HappyShopping 🛍
Today I woke up in the mood to cook, but to cook something totally out of my comfort zone. Since I was planning on relaxing the whole day at Casa Lizano today, I thought what better day than today, to make some yummy Baby-Back Ribs in our Slow Cooker! So here’s a little recipe for the next time you decide to bring out your Slow Cooker for some yummy ribs :
Slow Cooker Chinese Spare Ribs Ingredients :
3 LB Baby-Back Ribs of your liking
1/4 cup of Soy Sauce
1/2 cup of Raw Honey
1/3 cup of Hoisin Sauce
1 1/2 teaspoon of Chinese Five Spice Powder
2 tablespoons of Sugar
3 tablespoons of Sweet Chili Sauce
5-6 gloves of Garlic minced
2 teaspoon of Cornstarch
Chili Powder (to liking)
How it’s Made :
The day before you’re planning on making these ribs try to marinade them for at least 12 hours or longer, so the ribs can suck up all the juices from the marinade sauce that you’ll be preparing. In a small bowl mix the soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, five spice powder, sugar, sweet chili sauce, garlic and chili powder (to your liking).
Once all of the above are mixed, cut the ribs between the bones to give individual ribs and place them in a larger bowl or freezer bag, so you can pour in the marinade sauce over the ribs, and don’t forget to allow them too sit in the marinade for at least 12 hours or more for a flavorful taste!
Place ribs and marinade in slow cooker and cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 4 hours. (I personally cooked it for 4 hours on high.)
Once the slow cooker finished cooking, remove ribs from slow cooker and place them on a foil lined baking sheet.
Remove the top layer of fat from the juice in the slow cooker, pour the remaining liquid into a small saucepan and whisk in 2 teaspoon of cornstarch on low, so that the sauce thickens.
Brush thickened sauce over ribs and broil the ribs for about 5-6 minutes so the sauce is able to caramelize on top.
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds if desired!
Chinese Fried Rice Ingredients :
1 can of Diced Carrots
1 White Onion
Diced Green Onions
1 can of Peas
Soy Sauce (added to taste)
Butter (best way to stir fry the rice, rather than oil)
How it’s Made :
Using cooked chilled rice is the best way to make some yummy fried rice, you’ve gotta plan ahead and use throughly chilled rice. A fresh batch won’t do the trick, so I suggest making the rice earlier in the day and storing it until you’re ready to make your fried rice.
In a sauté pan, scramble your eggs using a small pat of butter, breaking them into small pieces as you go. Then transfer the eggs to a separate plate, and set aside.
Sauté your veggies and garlic with the remaining butter altogether until they are throughly cooked.
Scooch the veggies over to one side of the pan, melt some more butter in the other half of he pan, and add the chilled rice and soy sauce. Then stir to combine with the veggies and continue sautéing the rice altogether, stirring for a full 3 minutes, or until you notice that the rice and veggies are starting to brown slightly.
Remove pan from heat and stir in your green onions, sesame seeds and scramble eggs.
Give the rice taste, and season with some salt and pepper to your liking!
Alex and I absolutely love getting active, and bringing our little Scoob’s along. But the same trails can get boring from time to time, luckily we got invited by the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens to enjoy an evening date at their beautiful lushes gardens this past Thursday! They offer this cute event every Thursday from 5:30PM to 7:30PM called “Dog Dates at the Garden”, you can bring your Fur Babies and enjoy some fresh air and fun!
Fairchild’s mission is to save tropical plant diversity by exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants; fundamental to this task is inspiring a greater knowledge and love for plants and gardening so that all can enjoy the beauty and bounty of the tropical world. They carry a variety of beautiful tropical plants, all while keeping them in impeccable conditions; you can definitely tell that they really want to keep these gardens growing for a life to come. The garden itself is huge, 83 acres to be exact! Although we didn’t walk throughout the whole property, because they do did have a specific trail that you’re supposed to stay on, we honestly enjoyed it a lot and needless to say Scooby was exhausted afterwards 😂.
After we took a walk through the Garden we got to enjoy a little something they like to call “Yappy Hour at the Glasshouse Cafe”, and the best part is that it’s meant for you and your Fur Babies to enjoy! Yappy Hour at the Glasshouse Cafe includes a variety of Tapas with complimentary snacks for your pups + complimentary water for all thirsty pups too. They’ve also got a little something for the Pawents; like Prosciutto Toast, Pretzel Knots, Veggie Hummus Wrap, and a Mini-bar with some yummy wine or beer, to cheers the night away ✨!
Needless to say, we will definitely be back! It’s such a cute #DateNightIdea for any Pawent’s that would love to include their little Fur Babies on their next date-night + it’s SCOOBY APPROVED 🐶! For more information regarding “Dog Dates at the Garden” just click this link ⬅️, and let me know how you liked your experience on the comment section down below!
Hey 🙋🏼♀️!! Just wanted to drop in here and share with you all my favorite daily products that I normally use for my “quick + easy daily look”, click the video down below and check out, how I personally prefer to get ready for work – enjoy!
Some would say that your only worry should be if the tide is going to reach your chair, and although that does cross my mind whenever I’m relaxing by the shoreline, I also have found myself worrying about my skin and hair while I’m at the beach. It’s normal to worry about them because our skin + hair tend to dry up with sun and saltwater exposure, and especially when you’ve got treated hair. But throughout the years, I have found great products that I can’t live without them, for whenever we head over to a tropical destination. I have compiled a list for you guys of a few products that I have been using for a while now and a few other ones that I have recently added to my beach bag!
Sunscreen is extremely important no matter the occasion, I normally wear sunscreen every single day and I try to make sure that my daily moisturizer for both my body & face contain some amount of SPF. But of course, whenever you’re headed to the beach you need much more than just a little amount of SPF, so these are the 2 sunscreens I like to use while I am laying out in the sun. I actually don’t wear any tanning lotion, I prefer not to and I don’t really feel like I need it, because I tend to get a nice natural tan with these two sunscreens.
Ladies! Please moisturize after laying out in the sun!!! It’s such an important step that most women tend to forget, but trust me you will notice the difference right after the 1st application. Whenever you lay out in the sun, your skin tends to get dry and moisturizing it with some Aloe will definitely help bond your skin together. What I would normally do, was that once we showered back at the room I would moisturize with Aloe all throughout my body.
Like I said before, moisturizing is needed especially after a day out in the sun. So I personally like to ‘extra moisturize’, after the Aloe dries up, I go back and usually moisturize with a regular lotion. But I recently purchased this specific lotion, because of it’s great reviews. This natural glow moisturizer is truly a game changer ladies, it gradually created a flawless, natural-looking color while also hydrating my skin!
I’m not lying when I say that I use this lip balm on the daily, but I feel like lip balm is also very important when you’re headed to the beach! Just like your skin and hair, your lips tend to get dry and chappie, which is NOT cute! So make sure you get your favorite lip balm and stick it in your beach bag NOW!
So when it comes to Olaplex, there’s only good things to say! I got these 4 products after I decided to lighten my hair and now I can’t live without them! They are a bit pricey, but worth every penny, because you will notice the difference in your hair once you use them. I basically washed my hair every single day that we were at the beach, and after every wash I would apply Olaplex No 6, which is a styling hair cream. The styling hair cream helped with keeping the frizz away and would make my hair extra soft. Now with Olaplex No 3, I only used it once throughout our whole trip. This specific product is a hair mask, so it’s not meant to be used every single day, using it just once did the trick!
A good detangling hair brush is a total must, especially after you get out of the water and you just want to brush out your hair – I would totally recommend this one because I’ve noticed that it doesn’t tug & pull my hair!
I always like to have my hair feel smooth, so whenever I was out of the water and ready to sunbathe, I would splat some of this coconut milk conditioner onto my hair and brush it through. It would obviously condition my hair and give it these cute ‘beachy wavey’ style!
And of course, you can’t forget your serum! I would apply this every single day before and after applying the coconut milk conditioner. I’ve even found it very useful for whenever I would want to style my hair up on a bun or ponytail, rather than using gel or moose!
Hopefully you will find these products useful for your next beachy getaway, and as always Happy Friday!✨💛🌴
Whether you are in need of a fast, healthy dinner, a meal to wow the crowd, or just simply a protein that you can enjoy tonight and eat as leftovers the next day, this is the baked Salmon recipe for you! I try to mix-up our meals of the week as much as possible, so we’re always eating something different throughout the week, and I also love making fish at least once a week. This Monday I shared on my Insta stories that I was going to make Salmon for dinner & you guys were asking me to share my Salmon recipe ASAP, so here it is!
2 pound side of Salmon
3 Limes – cut in half, plus extra for serving as desired
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
1 teaspoon of garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon of lemon pepper (or to personal taste)
Half an Onion sliced
How it’s Made :
Remove the Salmon from the refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 10 minutes while you preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a large baking dish or rimmed baking sheet with a large piece of aluminum foil.
Lightly coat the foil with olive oil, then arrange the Salmon right in the center.
Squeeze the 3 limes onto the Salmon, making sure that the juices are staying within the baking tray.
Sprinkle garlic salt and lemon pepper, rub to coat and lay sliced onions on top of the Salmon.
Fold the sides of the aluminum foil up and over the top of the Salmon until it is completely enclosed. If your piece of foil is not large enough, place a second piece on top and fold the edges under so that it forms a sealed packet. Leave a little room inside the foil for air to circulate.
Bake the Salmon for about 20-30 minutes, until the Salmon is almost completely cooked through at the thickest part. The cooking time will vary based on the thickness of your Salmon. If your side is thinner (around 1-inch thick) check several minutes early to ensure that your Salmon does not overcook.
Once you Salmon is cooked, remove the Salmon from the oven and carefully open the foil so that the top of the fish is completely uncovered. Change the oven setting to broil and return the Salmon to the oven for about 5-10 minutes, until the top of the Salmon and onions are slightly golden, make sure to keep an eye on the Salmon, just to make sure it doesn’t overcook during this process.
To serve, cut the Salmon into portions & squeeze an extra lime for desired taste!
Happy Saturday Ya’ll!! I just wanted to pop in here and say HI 🙋🏼♀️ and also talk to you guys about a little something Alex & I created when this whole pandemic started. I thought it would be a great idea to do so, because tomorrow we will be spending the whole day doing a few ‘Home Improvements’ around Casa Lizano, so I thought it would definitely set-up the mood for tomorrow!
As many of you guys know, when this whole pandemic started I was basically stuck working from home – all while Alex was non-stop at the hospital. Even though I technically never really stopped working, I did find myself creating a little work-schedule, because I also wanted to take this time to relax & reflect on different projects I had in mind. I didn’t want it to feel like I was working more than before, so I would take little breaks here and there throughout my day. One day, Alex was actually home and we decided to swing by a local nursery so we could get some cute plants for our home. I specifically wanted to get plants that would add some pop of color inside our house, because I felt like our walls were to plain. So the idea was to create a wall garden inside the house, but I wasn’t sure how I wanted to set them up. So we went ahead and got a few succulents that day and just brought them home to figure out exactly what we wanted to do.
In my opinion the best place for ‘home decor’ ideas is on Pinterest, but Pinterest can get complicated very quickly because you can find so many cute ideas all at once and that could be a little intimidating sometimes, because you loose a sense of creativity along the way. I noticed that Alex & I had about the same ideas for what we wanted to do, but Alex was leaning more towards having the wall garden outside in the yard rather than somewhere inside the house. He felt like it would be better for watering purposes and also because he was afraid they wren’t going to get enough sunlight indoors. So in a way we were kinda lost as to what to-do for quite some time. I’m not gonna lie, these succulents stayed outside for over a month until we finally decided what we were going to do with them, and in the meantime I continued purchasing more & more succulents every chance that I passed by the nursery. We had so many plants & succulents that we had to-do two wall gardens instead of one, which worked out perfectly because we both got what we wanted at the end, an indoor and outdoor wall garden 🌵!
Here’s a list of all of the succulents, plants & tools needed to create our indoor and outdoor wall garden :
Since we had so many succulents and orchids, we decided to replant a few in the same pots. The pots that we ended up purchasing were a little bigger than expected, but I loved the fact that they were plastic & looked as if they were porcelain because of its design/texture. So giving up the pots for different ones wasn’t gonna be an option for me, and we had so many small succulents that we could get away with replanting two-in-one! So after we replanted all of the succulents & orchids, it was time to figure out how we were going to place them, as you guys can see we did 3 rows going horizontal and vertically with enough spaces for each individual plant. I love how clean and modern the gardens look both indoors and outdoors. The great part of it all, is that you can actually rearrange the plants every so often, cause all you have to do is move the pots around. So whenever we notice that a few plants might need a little more sunlight, we just move it outside and bring a few of the outdoor plants back inside. So in a way, the garden itself is very versatile and you’re not stuck with the same view for forever!
I hope you guys enjoy creating these wall gardens, just as much as we did and don’t forget to let us know in the comments down below what type of plants, succulents and orchids you used to make your own wall garden! 💛✨🌵🌸
Here is my first ever outfit diary! I decided I would take some photos/videos in each of my outfits throughout our mini-getaway at Sanibel Island, with the help of my Hubbager Mr. Lizano! Check out all of my outfits + links on how you can achieve the same exact looks!💛
I wanted to be able to leave in something cute but comfy, because we were going to be stuck in a car for about 2 hours before we reached our destination. So I decided to wear this beautiful Mamey color linen dress from Target. I was able to link it above, but only in the color white, as that is the only color they currently have available.
Let’s talk about formfitting, this swimsuit wrapped around my body as if it were made specifically for me! The material was thick enough to give me full coverage, and offered the most perfect cheeky bottom!
It’s not a tropical vibe, unless you’ve got a tropical set to go with it – blessed to have collaborated with Pretty Little Thing for this trip, because I got to wear the cutest outfits ever!
Tie-Dye is definitely the way to my C O R A Z O N, this bodycon dress fit so well + matched the vibrant sunset perfectly after a long beachy day!
Did someone say Fedora? This had to be one of my favorite beachy looks, I actually bought this swimsuit on our final run to Target right before our trip, and as soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. The color gave me major ‘tropical vibes’ and I thought it would go perfectly with the Heart-shaped Sunglasses that I also got at Pretty Little Thing!🦩
Funny enough I got a bunch of DM’s regarding this Bikini I wore on our last beachy day, which is why I decided to link it above. I’ve had this bikini for over a year now, and it’s one of my favorite bikinis because of it’s print!🐅
This peachy dress I wore on our last night at Sanibel caused sensation all throughout the island, especially to Alex’s eyes 😍 lol – he really wanted me to get this specific dress & insisted that I had to have it!
On our departure date, I decided to wear something a little more sporty. I didn’t post it up on the Insta’s Timeline, but I did post it up on my stories & you guys wanted all the deets! As many of you guys know, I had been on the look for some new denims, and I found the perfect fit at Target + I also picked up this cute Tee to represent my little Scoobs!🐶
I hope you guys enjoyed this post, let me know f you would like to see more outfit diaries from every place I go to! Happy Hump Day!✨
You know that saying that traveling is the only thing you can spend money on that will make you richer – well, Alex & I definitely believe that! We’ve made it a habit to at least once a year plan a little getaway so we can relax, meet new places and create new memories. Since the beginning of this year we had a trip planned out for the weekend of our wedding anniversary, but had to cancel last minute for obvious reasons! Shortly after we canceled my family-business was mandated by the county to close until further notice & I was basically stuck at home, handling all of Marilin’s online orders, while Alex was working non-stop + wrapping up his last couple of weeks of PGY-1 residency. Honestly, I felt extra bad for Alex because I knew exactly how badly he really just wanted to take a few days off to relax, but at that current moment it wasn’t gonna be option.
Fast forward to June 27th (just to be exact), we booked a mini-getaway to celebrate the fact that Alex was officially done with his residency – the funny part was that I basically had less than 24 hours to pack up everything, because we were literally leaving the next day. Some would question why did we wait so last minute to book anything and the answer to that is quite simple, with everything that has been going on this past year, we didn’t want to book anything with anticipation and then have to cancel once again! I won’t lie, at first I was a bit skeptical as to where we should go, I knew it had to be somewhere local just incase an emergency or potential lock-down due to this pandemic. The great part of living in Florida, is that FL has beautiful beaches all throughout the state, but you have to be willing to drive just a little. We were looking for a place neither of us have ever been to and we had a few options, but one specific spot stood out the most for us and that was Sanibel Island. We wanted to go somewhere that was tropical and peaceful, and I must say that the other reason why we were so attracted to this location, was because of the amazing deal we got at the resort! DEALS are always the way to Alex’s heart 💛 😂!
We found this Resort right on the Southwest Gulf Coast of Sanibel Island, called Sundial Beach Resort & Spa. We were able to select from their spacious and fully-equipped condominium accommodations our Island Suite! They’ve got different condos to fit everyones needs, I personally liked the fact that it was spacious + very private/cozy at the same time. It honestly felt like we were in our second home, I even remember us leaving dinner one night and saying “now when we get home let’s sit on the balcony”! We reserved directly from their site with the Florida & Georgia Resident Discount; which included Breakfast for 2 every morning of our stay, beach towels, chairs & umbrellas, paddle boarding, kayaks, bikes to ride throughout the island and all the basics that a resort usually includes.
The resort is very centric to local restaurants & shops, which was something I absolutely loved, because you don’t have to fully rely on the resort if you’d like to grab something to eat. The resort also offers multiple restaurants/bars, but we really wanted to eat local food and I’m glad we did because we got to try out different restaurants. I feel like the best part of the resort was the fact that it included so many activities like bikes, kayaks and paddle boarding. We would normally do something active every day and then end up relaxing at the beach until 4:00 or 5:00 in the afternoon. Plus, by that time the low-tide was active and we would just walk right by the shoreline collecting seashells. The amount of beautiful seashells that you will find at Sanibel is insane, I have never seen so many seashells in my life! I mean, they don’t just call Sanibel a tropical island destination with miles of shell-strewn beaches for nothing!
Sanibel Island is definitely a must if you haven’t been to already, trust me! Needless to say, this trip was definitely all about relaxing, and that’s something we both needed! We laughed, we created new memories and we probably even found the one place we could always turn to for a mini-getaway!💛🌴✨ – Till we meet again Sani!
