Alex and I absolutely love getting active, and bringing our little Scoob’s along. But the same trails can get boring from time to time, luckily we got invited by the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens to enjoy an evening date at their beautiful lushes gardens this past Thursday! They offer this cute event every Thursday from 5:30PM to 7:30PM called “Dog Dates at the Garden”, you can bring your Fur Babies and enjoy some fresh air and fun!
Fairchild’s mission is to save tropical plant diversity by exploring, explaining and conserving the world of tropical plants; fundamental to this task is inspiring a greater knowledge and love for plants and gardening so that all can enjoy the beauty and bounty of the tropical world. They carry a variety of beautiful tropical plants, all while keeping them in impeccable conditions; you can definitely tell that they really want to keep these gardens growing for a life to come. The garden itself is huge, 83 acres to be exact! Although we didn’t walk throughout the whole property, because they do did have a specific trail that you’re supposed to stay on, we honestly enjoyed it a lot and needless to say Scooby was exhausted afterwards 😂.
After we took a walk through the Garden we got to enjoy a little something they like to call “Yappy Hour at the Glasshouse Cafe”, and the best part is that it’s meant for you and your Fur Babies to enjoy! Yappy Hour at the Glasshouse Cafe includes a variety of Tapas with complimentary snacks for your pups + complimentary water for all thirsty pups too. They’ve also got a little something for the Pawents; like Prosciutto Toast, Pretzel Knots, Veggie Hummus Wrap, and a Mini-bar with some yummy wine or beer, to cheers the night away ✨!
Needless to say, we will definitely be back! It’s such a cute #DateNightIdea for any Pawent’s that would love to include their little Fur Babies on their next date-night + it’s SCOOBY APPROVED 🐶! Since this whole quarantine thing started, I’ve found myself getting a little more creative when it comes to planning our Date Nights! I absolutely love planning date nights that involve PJ’s & some good wine, I mean, you don’t have to necessarily go-out all the time + it’s super pocket friendly! But one thing I did realize was that, we had never done a game-night date night! Of course, we hadn’t done it yet, because we actually didn’t have any board games at home. When we first moved in, we didn’t think of purchasing board games and I honestly feel like board-games is a total must-have! Thankfully Target came to the rescue and they had an amazing BOGO deal, in which you buy 2-games and get 1-FREE. We couldn’t miss out in the opportunity so we went ahead and purchased a few games that we knew we definitely needed.
We absolutely LOVE game nights, it’s one of our top favorite ways to pass some time and the great part of game-night date night, is that you probably don’t have to waste a single cent. Unless you’re like us and didn’t have a single game at home. But if you were smart enough to buy them ahead of time, all you gotta do is open a nice bottle of wine, set out a cheese board and challenge each other to a bet. Plus, if you ever want to host a double date once this whole quarantine is over, a game night is a fantastic at home date night idea for a group date or a double date! I personally love being competitive and seeing Alex’s competitive side!
Dominos (If you’re hispanic, you will understand why this game is 100000% necessary to have at home 😂!)
Don’t Forget About :
Once you’ve got everything set out, you can’t forget about some yummy snacks and a great playlist to have playing in the background. This will just set the whole mood up for the evening. I’ve usually prepared cheese boards whenever Alex & I have a little date night at home, but I was thinking, that maybe this weekend I can try making something a little different, like some yummy “Truffled Popcorn”. We shall see 💁🏼♀️, but for now I hope you guys enjoy this little idea with your lovers this weekend!
Last night Alex & I gave up our Pumpkin carving kit, and we decided to turn things up a notch with our painting skills. Instead of doing the usual and carve a pumpkin, we really wanted to do something completely different and not as messy. Carving pumpkins can become a very messy date-night, and I wasn’t looking forward to cleaning up all of those guts! Which is why I came up with the idea of turning it into a painting sesh; and honestly it was the BEST idea EVER!
At first Alex was complaining that he isn’t a good painter, but I mean, its not like it was a competition 😂 and he actually did a very good job! I just wanted this to be something fun & relaxing, so we opened up two Red Stripes 🍻, baked a pizza 🍕& got our painting on. In all honesty it was so relaxing, I don’t know if it was the fact that we had Sam Cooke playing in the background or if it was all the painting that was going on, I just felt like we took it easy & enjoyed ourselves fully. I’ve heard that painting can be therapeutic, because it allows the mind to focus on the images at hand and nothing else. The focus on one central topic relieves stress on the mind, and in turn relaxes the body. So this date-night was perfect after a long work-week (for me at least, because poor Alex had to clock-in today).
It’s always nice spending time together, but also finding unique things to-do from the comfort of our home, plus a super inexpensive date-night! You honestly don’t need much; except a few painting brushes, two pumpkins, a couple of acrylic paint kits & some Sam Cooke playing in the background! Oh & of course you’ll also need some cute ideas/designs 💡 for your pumpkins, Alex & I looked up on Pinterest “Pumpkin Painting Ideas” & there was more than a million ideas/designs to choose from!
Casa Lizano is officially ready for Halloween 👻 with our cute pumpkins 🎃 that are giving us all the Disney vibes! We hope you all can enjoy some cute/fun pumpkin decorating during this spooky season & don’t forget to give “pumpkin painting” a try; ya’ll will thank us later! -Enjoy
