Date Night @ Casa Lizano Pumpkin Painting :

Date Night @ Casa Lizano Pumpkin Painting :

Last night Alex & I gave up our Pumpkin carving kit, and we decided to turn things up a notch with our painting skills. Instead of doing the usual and carve a pumpkin, we really wanted to do something completely different and not as messy. Carving pumpkins can become a very messy date-night, and I wasn’t looking forward to cleaning up all of those guts! Which is why I came up with the idea of turning it into a painting sesh; and honestly it was the BEST idea EVER!

At first Alex was complaining that he isn’t a good painter, but I mean, its not like it was a competition 😂 and he actually did a very good job! I just wanted this to be something fun & relaxing, so we opened up two Red Stripes 🍻, baked a pizza 🍕& got our painting on. In all honesty it was so relaxing, I don’t know if it was the fact that we had Sam Cooke playing in the background or if it was all the painting that was going on, I just felt like we took it easy & enjoyed ourselves fully. I’ve heard that painting can be therapeutic, because it allows the mind to focus on the images at hand and nothing else. The focus on one central topic relieves stress on the mind, and in turn relaxes the body. So this date-night was perfect after a long work-week (for me at least, because poor Alex had to clock-in today).

It’s always nice spending time together, but also finding unique things to-do from the comfort of our home, plus a super inexpensive date-night! You honestly don’t need much; except a few painting brushes, two pumpkins, a couple of acrylic paint kits & some Sam Cooke playing in the background! Oh & of course you’ll also need some cute ideas/designs 💡 for your pumpkins, Alex & I looked up on Pinterest “Pumpkin Painting Ideas” & there was more than a million ideas/designs to choose from!

Alex’s Pumpkin : The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack Skellington & Yesi’s Pumpkin : Monsters Inc. Mike Wazowski

Casa Lizano is officially ready for Halloween 👻 with our cute pumpkins 🎃 that are giving us all the Disney vibes! We hope you all can enjoy some cute/fun pumpkin decorating during this spooky season & don’t forget to give “pumpkin painting” a try; ya’ll will thank us later! -Enjoy

Sunday Brunch @ Casa Lizano :

Sunday Brunch @ Casa Lizano :

Peep 👀 my PJ’s & Slippers 💛👌🏻

I mean, who doesn’t love a good ol’ Sunday Brunch? I sure do! Alex & I love going to Bonefish every once in a while for Sunday Brunch, but recently we’ve been brunching from the comfort of our home, because who doesn’t love a lazy Sunday? Especially when you get to enjoy it in the comfort of your favorite PJ’s & Slippers! Alex normally works 11-days straight & then has a 3-day weekend, so we always try to make the best of it whenever he’s got the whole weekend off. And what better way than to celebrate his Sunday off than with brunch?

I’m normally an early bird, no matter what day of the week it is. So while Alex takes a break from his early morning routine for work, I prepare some yummy breakfast & every little thing that we will be needing for Sunday Brunch; Mimosas DUH!💁🏼‍♀️🥂 So, I thought it’d be nice to share a few of my favorite recipes for your next Sunday Brunch, I hope ya’ll can enjoy!

Western Omelette or Scrambled Eggs :

Alex & I love either of the two, especially when they are packed with yummy ingredients; which is why we always stick to the Western one. Plus it’s super easy to make, and omelettes/scrambled eggs in general are a great choice for a low carb breakfast, because they pack you full of protein and keep you full for quite a while easily.

Ingredients :

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 large eggs (in our case 4-5 large eggs, depending how hungry we are)
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup green bell pepper/red bell pepper finely diced
  • 1/4 cooked ham chopped
  • 1/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese
  • Salt/pepper to liking

How it’s made :

  1. In a medium bowl beat the eggs well & set aside.
  2. I’m an 8-inch skillet 🍳, melt 1 tbsp of butter, then add in the onion & sauté until tender.
  3. Add in bell peppers and fry until the onions are softened to your liking and the bell peppers are tender crisp.
  4. Add the ham and cook for one more minute while stirring.
  5. Pour the eggs mixture over top of fried ham/vegetable mixture.
  6. Turn down the stove heat to low and cover with a lid for about 4-5 minutes.
  7. Once the eggs are solid and cooked almost through, flip the entire circle and cook for one more minute. But if you’d prefer to eat some yummy scrambled eggs, just scramble them up while adding some cheese & skip the following two steps down below!
  8. Place the cheese on one side of the omelette and fold over the omelette into a half circle shape.
  9. Let the cheese melt inside and then serve.

Homemade Pancakes :

I’m obsessed with pancakes, so whenever I get the chance to munch on them…I definitely do just that!😜 Check out these easy to make homemade pancakes 🥞 from scratch! (Plus, besides adding some sweet syrup; you can also top them off with some freshly cut strawberries & whipped cream!)

Ingredients :

  • 1 1/2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • 1 1/2 cup of milk

How it’s made :

  1. Mix in all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl. (Flour, baking powder, sugar, salt)
  2. Whisk egg in a small bowl and add to the above flour mixture along with the milk.
  3. Stir together, until well blended and pour onto hot greased griddle.
  4. Wait until pancakes are bubbling and cooked around the edges and flip.
  5. Garnish with freshly cut strawberries 🍓 & some yummy whipped cream.

Sides :

I normally always like to have a couple of sides to pair with the Omelette/Scrambled Eggs 🍳& Pancakes 🥞 ; so I always tend to make some wheat or classic toast with butter or jelly. And of course we can’t forget the BACON 🥓; bacon is completely necessary for a Sunday Brunch @ Casa Lizano!

Mimosas :

Oh, and we can’t forget the Mimosas either🥂, the most important part of it all 😆! Here’s what I consider the perfect mix for a Mimosa :

Ingredients :

  • 1/4 cup pulp-free orange juice
  • 1/4 cup + a splash 😆 sparkling white wine (my personal recommendation would be Prosecco)

How it’s made :

  1. Pour 1/4 cup of orange juice into a champagne flute (this should fill nearly half of the glass).
  2. Pour 1/4 cup of Prosecco into the flute; and of course top it off with some extra splash..you can just eyeball it lol! (I’ve found that, that extra splash is exactly what the drink needs to go from good to GREAT! 🥂
  3. If you’re like me, you can just garnish it with some of the extra freshly cut strawberries 🍓!

Time to enjoy :

Now that I’ve told you a few of my fave things to make for Sunday Brunch, I hope ya’ll can enjoy these easy-to-make recipes & let me know how ya’ll liked them!😘

XOXO, Yesi 🥂

Honeymoon :

Honeymoon :

We’re still on that honeymoon state of mind, but I wish we could be reliving that entire week all over again! When it came to honeymoon 🍯 planning, Alex & I literally had to wait till last minute to actually reserve anything. We were getting married on March 30th, and I kid you not when I am telling you that 2 weeks before the wedding, was when we were finally able to reserve our honeymoon. Ever since Alex started Pharmacy School, we would always have to plan things around his schedule, especially our honeymoon, because he was waiting to see where & when he would start his residency year.

So on March 15th, 2019 at exactly 8:00AM, he finally got that phone call that we were both yearning for so long. He had gotten accepted at the #1 place that he really wanted to do his 1st year of residency & we were finally on the clear to plan our honeymoon. His graduation date was set for May 17th & he still had to study for his board exam before he started the residency program, which only left us with 1 possible week to celebrate our honeymoon. Which was perfect, because all we really wanted to do was take some time off, just for the two of us & disconnect from our normal routine.

Fast forward to one day later, and we were able to get an amazing deal on a 1-week cruise on the Symphony of the Seas by Royal Caribbean Cruise Line & we were finally able to book our honeymoon! The best part of it all, was that we were leaving the day after Alex’s graduation, so it honestly couldn’t have been planned any better! We both needed this time off, but it was extra special for Alex, because he was officially graduating from Pharmacy School, so it was double the celebration!

May 17th, 2019 : Graduation Day 🎓

I personally love cruising, because you don’t really have to worry about anything, everything is literally taken care of for your, and Royal Caribbean really knows how to treat their guests on-board. From the moment we got to the port they were fully aware that we were on our honeymoon & really gave us those extra perks. Not a day passed by, that we didn’t feel like we were both on Cloud 9! Everything about this trip was absolutely perfect; from the service, to our balcony ocean-view cabin, to the food, to the shows & honestly the list can go on. Royal Caribbean is an exceptional cruise line! They’ve got jaw-dropping performances on stage, ice, water and air with entertainment that transcends the stage, literally. Plus they’ve got so many onboard experiences, that it would be imposible for you to get bored on their ships!

Boardwalk — Symphony of the Seas

Our itinerary included the following ports : (W/ 3 at Sea Days)

  • St. Kitss
  • St. Thomas
  • Coco Cay Perfect Day

Even though, Alex & I have been to all of these 3 islands, we were both just looking forward to relaxing & trying out different excursions that we probably hadn’t done before. Plus, Coco Cay (which is a private island that is owned by Royal Caribbean) had recently gotten a total facelift 😂, so we were looking forward to checking that out as well.

St. Kitts :

Alex & I really wanted to do the Mount Liamuiga Volcano Hike at St. Kitts, but unfortunately due to the weather they had to cancel this excursion. So we decided to go ATV riding throughout the St. Kitts rainforest (which we were able to see Mount Liamuiga from afar + snap some beautiful pictures) & then ended up at the beach, sipping on tropical drinks while we sun-bathed.

ATV Riding — St. Kitts
Ocean View Balcony!😍

St. Thomas :

At St. Thomas, we sailed away on a Catamaran that took us to Christmas Cove where we snorkeled with sea turtles & stingrays. And later sipped on unlimited rum-punch🍹, while we partied our way back to our cruise ship!

Coco Cay, Perfect Day :

Honestly this day was full of tropical drinks & delicious food by the beach, while we sun-bathed at one of their adults-only beaches. Talk about a perfect 👌🏻 day at Coco Cay!

Days at sea, were just as good as the days that we were roaming the islands 🌴. We took those 3-days at sea to enjoy all the perks the ship has to offer + relax by the adults-only pool with a Piña Colada!🍍🍹Besides the fact that this was our honeymoon, this trip was one of the best, and it’s funny because I feel like I always say the same thing about every other trip, but seriously we couldn’t have selected a better way to spend our honeymoon!💛✨🥂🍯

Home Chef :

Home Chef :

As you may all know, I’m totally obsessed with cooking & trying out new recipes that will put me out of my comfort zone. I personally love to eat and it’s nice when you get to be the one behind the magic of prepping a meal. For a while now, many of my insta followers have been asking me to share a few of my recipes + share vlogs on how I prepare my meals. At first I was a bit skeptical, because in all honestly I’m kinda video/camera shy lol! But when Home Chef reached out to me, I thought “hey, maybe I can give this a try & film myself doing it” and I basically got myself out of that zone of being scared of the “what-if’s”!

It’s easy to be scared of trying something new, but you can’t fully judge something if you haven’t given it try. I feel like, we as humans allow ourselves to feel like trying something new isn’t always the right idea, because we’re scared of the feedback we’ll receive from it. And sometimes getting ourselves out of that comfort zone can be hard, but I’m glad that I took this opportunity to not only collaborate with such a yummy company (literally 😂 ), but also allow myself to do something different with my content & maybe open up more room for something that was actually fun to do!

Enough on my first filming experience & let’s dive in on my 1st experience with Home Chef. Home Chef is here to literally simplify your whole cooking experience & bringing people together around the dinning room table, by helping you save time while enjoying real home cooking and all of the joy that comes with it! Simplicity is their mantra! They provide you with easy-to-follow recipes & ingredients from online to your doorstep, to your kitchen table! I mean it can’t get any better than that!😍

How it works : Home Chef offers a meal kit delivery service in which you can choose from up to 26 different fresh weekly options including steak, chicken, pork, fish, and vegetarian. You’re in control as to what you want to eat, by customizing your choices by swapping, upgrading, or even doubling the recipes! Each week they send perfectly portioned ingredients with their recipes, so you never waste food. Plus, they provide fresh ingredients from their community of trusted suppliers.

Packaging: Honestly their packaging system is pretty interesting, their Home Chef boxes 📦 are completely lined with recycled, compostable, biodegradable textile fibers. And if that wasn’t enough they are completely insulated and equipped with ice packs, so all of your ingredientes stay nice & fresh, even if you’re not home!

Alex & I received our first package last week on Wednesday, and I was so excited to get my cooking on, that same day. But if you’re not up to cooking right away, most of their ingredients can stay from 3-5 days in the fridge, before they start going bad. Our package included 2-servings of the following 3 meals :

  • Cotija-Crusted Pork Chops
  • Maui Pork Tostadas
  • Hot Jalapeño Jelly Glazed Salmon

The Salmon was our first choice, because I was dying to taste that Jalapeño Jelly Glaze (I absolutely LOVE spicy 🌶 food) and to be honest it wasn’t extremely spicy, it was the perfect touch of spiciness! So Alex was definitely able to enjoy it as well. Here’s a quick look at the ingredients + step-by-step recipe that Home Chef provided for this meal :

Hot Jalapeño Jelly Glazed Salmon w/ Crispy Onion Asparagus:

Ingredients : (2 servings)

  • Asparagus 12oz.
  • Crispy Fried Onions 1oz.
  • Hot Jalapeño Jelly 2oz.
  • Pecans 0 1/2oz.
  • Salmon Fillets 12oz.
  • Seasoned Salt Blend 0 1/2tsp.
  • Olive Oil 2tsp.
  • Salt pinch
  • Pepper pinch

Recipe :

  1. Start the Salmon : pat salmon dry, and season flesh side with a pinch of salt & pepper. Place a medium non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2tsp. of olive oil. Add salmon, skin-side up, to hot pan and sear throughly until golden brown and salmon reaches a minimum internal temperature of 145 degrees, 4-6 minutes per side. While salmon sears, cook asparagus.
  2. Cook the Asparagus : trim woody ends off asparagus. Place a large non-stick pan over medium heat and add 2tsp. of olive oil. Add asparagus and seasoned salt to hot pan. Stir occasionally until lightly charred and tender, but still crisp, 8-10 minutes. Remove from burner and stir in pecans and crispy onions.
  3. Finish the Salmon : remove pan with salmon from burner & top with jalapeño jelly. Gently flip salmon until coated with jelly. Jelly will loosen up as it heats.
  4. Finish the Dish : plate dish as pictured on front of card & Bon appétit!

Honestly, it was the simplest meal ever & it was so full of flavor! Alex & I really enjoyed prepping this meal together (even though Alex was mostly behind the camera making sure we covered the whole prepping process)! Home Chef definitely goes above and beyond to provide everything that you might need for your next meal + the quality of their ingredients speak for themselves when you take that first bite. Now that a week has passed by & we’ve tried the other 2 meals that arrived in our 1st package, I can fully say that Home Chef is definitely worth a try. If you’re the type of person that doesn’t know what to buy or how to prep a full meal, Home Chef might just be able to help you out with that! Check them out for yourselves & let me know what you think!😊

Here’s a quick video that my Hubby recorded of me cooking this delicious recipe, I hope you guys enjoy it, just as much as I did!

XOXO, Yesi 🥂

Fall 2019 Bucket List :

Fall 2019 Bucket List :

It’s officially Fall Ya’ll, and I couldn’t be any happier! Fall truly is a wonderful time of the year, besides Christmas, it’s like once that clock hits Fall O’clock everything is much nicer. I guess it’s because it means that the Holidays are much closer, and people are finally getting into a much merrier mood! Although we don’t really get to experience all of what Fall has to offer down here in South Florida, we as true Miami-ans, really try to savor in the little things about Fall. From decking out our homes with Pumpkins, to eating anything & everything that contains Pumpkin Spice and wearing flannel shirts with our ankle boots! We honestly don’t waste any time when it comes to Fall!

Our little “Love Nest” is officially decked out for Fall!

So, I thought what better way than to celebrate the fact that it’s officially Fall, than with a “Fall 2019 Bucket List”! This way Ya’ll can get some cute/fun ideas for this years Fall, I personally feel like sometimes it’s hard to find time for myself and my family when working 9 long hours 6-days a week, so whenever I make lists and schedule things in that I’d like to-do, it definitely becomes much easier for me to accomplish them, which is why I’ve made it a habit to write things down!

So with no further ado, here’s the 2019 Fall Bucket List!

-Enjoy

Home Sweet Home!

Home Sweet Home!

IMG_1638

As we all may fully be aware of by now, adulting is a pretty hard concept. What with having to work and pay for things, who wouldn’t long for the good ole days of being a kid and not having a care in the world except waking up in time to watch Saturday morning cartoons. However hard it may be, nothing is more adult than having to move out into your own pace. It can be tough, having to leave the home that you grew up in and start a life all on your own. I personally felt like it was a bittersweet moment when I finally left because I was so used to always living with my parents that it made me feel that having them around is what made our home, feel like a home. I mean when the time finally came it took me forever and a day to finally move out, like I literally took a box per trip.

Needless to say it took a while to move out but however scary it was I was also excited to begin a new chapter of my life and more so be able to create new memories with Alex! We didn’t miss any opportunities for it either. Since our home needed some renovation to be made, we decided that before moving in we would try to get as much work done as possible. The house was built in 2004, so you guys could already imagine how outdated things were there. Namely we would concentrate on the flooring, baseboards and bathrooms. These were amongst the oldest things in the house and I feel like starting here will ultimately help determine the overall theme when decorating our home. We did our upstairs flooring in a dark chocolate brown hardwood tile and our downstairs area, along with the bathrooms in a beautiful 24×24 Porcelain marble look-alike tile. Honestly, I’m obsessed with the combination of the two that we ended up choosing because in the beginning we were considering doing wooden tiles for the entire house & I don’t think it would’ve come out as beautiful in comparison to the two contrasting tiles. Additionally, we went ahead and remolded our kitchen cabinets as well. Luckily we had the most expensive part which was the granite and backsplash, which saved us a ton of money since this can get pretty expensive considering what type of granite you decide putting in.

After the struggle of redoing all of our floors, bathrooms & kitchen we went ahead and repainted our entire home, cause might as well. The previous owners had a dark palette all around the house and let’s face it, unless you’re not recreating a haunted house, it can get kind of depressing; plus it makes the area look 10x smaller than what it actually is. That being said I definitely wanted to brighten up our home, I would’ve personally chosen an eggshell white for the whole house, but Alex was not up for it. So we met in the middle and got an ivory tone for most of the house & a kaki color for two accent walls. (Compromises go hand in hand to a happy marriage after all) Nevertheless let me tell you something, thank god that we opted for those two colors because they complement each other so well and all while making our furniture pop! And so together, along with both of our families and of course all the contractors we were able to turn our vision into reality after a good 3 month period, which isn’t all that bad considering how much longer other renovations can take up to.

Now that the hard part was finally behind us, we got to do my personal favorite hobby, go shopping!! We chose all of our main furniture from Room’s To Go from the Sofia VergaraCindy Crawford Collections. Here’s a list of our furniture selection:

Since our master bedroom had the wooden tiles, we didn’t want to get dark furniture that would blend in with the floor. We decided on getting the Sofia Vergara Cambrian Court White set in size king so that it could add some contrast to our bedroom. It fit in perfectly because the ivory tone paint that we painted our bedroom matched so well with our furniture.

Honestly, our living room space is my favorite part of our home and that’s all in part thanks to our beautiful sofa. It’s super comfy, you can literally sleep on the sofa & it was the perfect size for the limited space in our living room. It’s available in many different colors, but we decided that the platinum color would fit perfectly with our style and it sure did!

Thankfully Alex managed to find the best dining table because we honestly had no clue what would be a good fit for us. He pointed out how it would already fit in with all of our other furniture, plus it being the same color of our wooden tiles upstairs, kind of made it a perfect fit. They have two types of chair styles, we opted for the fancier style because it looked nicer & it actually is way more comfy to sit on. We ended up adding the Sofia Vergara Cambrian Court Bronze Server because we wanted to have a little extra space to store our dinning essentials and have an extra table that we could use for serving purposes whenever we’d have family or friends come over.

Incredibly, we got two accent furniture pieces at Big Lot’s. The first being an electric fireplace console that we placed right in front of our sofa & happens to look perfectly paired with our TV that’s right above it. The other piece that we bought was a little breakfast nook that we put on the other side of our kitchen, its perfect for two people, which is pretty much all we needed because our household isn’t that big just yet. (Unfortunately I couldn’t find the links for both of these pieces, because they are always changing their inventory & never have the same things repeated.) But if you’re in need just head down to the store and hopefully they’ll still be in stock.

Finally, the small little details like decoration and other accent pieces I personally took the time to go to our local Home Good’s & buy what I thought would fit in with the style we were leaning more towards. You can find pretty much anything at Home Good’s & with their low prices, you can’t go wrong. Just be careful you don’t end up wanting to buy everything you see!

Needless to say, we’re both obsessed with our little home after all the hard work we both put into it. We’ve been living together for about 8 months now and throughout that time we’ve been doing minor renovations that still needed to be done after moving in. Overall, the home renovations were definitely one for the books, the process was fun & we learned a lot. But now that we’re officially done, we just want to enjoy ourselves & create more memories in our little love nest!

XOXO, Yesi 🥂
